Marrangaroo Exploded Ordnance Store Minor Repairs & Maintenance

Marrangaroo Exploded Ordnance Store Minor Repairs & Maintenance Client Department of Defence Project Type Refurbishment Superintendent Aurecon State NSW Contract Type Design & Construct Completion November 2022 Jordi Construct was entrusted with the extensive refurbishment of six essential buildings at the Marrangaroo Barracks, focusing on improving both their structural integrity and functionality. The refurbishment of Buildings D113, D114, and D115 included the complete replacement of box gutters and downpipes, ensuring effective water management across all structures. Additionally, both the internal and external surfaces of these buildings were thoroughly primed and repainted, providing a refreshed appearance and enhanced protection against the elements. For Building D116, similar attention was given to the replacement of box gutters and downpipes, coupled with a comprehensive priming and repainting of all surfaces. Furthermore, Jordi Construct installed new emergency and exit lighting throughout the building, ensuring full compliance with MFPE (Maintenance of Fire Protection Equipment) and NCC (National Construction Code) standards, significantly improving safety and accessibility. Building D118 underwent a series of targeted upgrades, starting with the replacement of floor finishes and light fittings across the entire building. The internal surfaces were carefully primed and repainted, while rotting timberwork in the entry doors and fascia was replaced to restore structural integrity. Handrails were installed at the loading dock and both ends of the dock area, meeting BCA (Building Code of Australia), MFPE, and NCC standards. The building’s external distribution board was also replaced, further enhancing its operational reliability. Finally, in Building D119, Jordi Construct replaced the Kliplok roof sheeting, including the guttering and downpipes, to secure the building’s weatherproofing. All external surfaces were primed and repainted, rejuvenating the building’s exterior while safeguarding it against future wear and tear.

Victoria Barracks Building Compliance Works

Victoria Barracks Compliance Works Client Department of Defence Project Type Refurbishment Superintendent Augility State NSW Contract Type Design & Construct Completion February 2023 This Design & Construct project involved the rectification of existing fire safety compliance issues raised as part of the Fire Safety Survey reporting at Defence’s Victoria Barracks in NSW. The project required significant upgrades to two critical stairways within the building. The main stairway at the eastern end of the building underwent extensive enhancements. To improve fire safety, we installed fire separation on each floor and reconfigured the stair exit, which previously discharged into the building’s interior. Additionally, we added fire separation between the lift openings and the stairway, while also undertaking remediation of the existing timber treads. At the western end of the building, the external stairway received a series of vital improvements. We installed fire separation between the stairway and adjacent building openings, as well as vertical separation elements to the full-height windows. To protect the structural integrity of the building, corrosion control measures were applied to existing steel elements, and fire protection was added to unprotected window openings on the eastern side of the building. With the clearance between Building 111 and Building 029 being less than required, this was a crucial enhancement. Furthermore, we provided the necessary fire protection to penetrations between fire-rated floors and carried out repairs to the fire hose reel cupboard door catches where needed. In addition to these safety upgrades, the project also included the replacement of the HVAC system to ensure a comfortable and controlled environment within the facility.
