RAAF Richmond Infrastructure Relocation
Department of Defence
PMCA: Aurecon

This design and construct project involves upgrades to the electrical infrastructure at RAAF Base Richmond to improve power reliability and capacity from overhead 11kV supply to in ground 33kV.
The design works include a new shed structure, Intake Switching Station (ISS), Endeavour Energy control room, high voltage system documentation, interconnector cabling, and dual underground 33kV feeders.
The construction works include building a new shed, relocating the existing shed, ISS and electrical compound, and installing approximately 3.5 km of underground feeders. The project also involves decommissioning the existing 11kV overhead supply and ISS, with integration into the upgraded network. Environmental and site investigations; including arborist, heritage, and contamination assessments will be undertaken to inform cable routing. Finally, testing, commissioning, and training will be carried out to ensure the smooth operation of the new system.
